Reporting from the Pit
“One of the newest artists that has been heavily in the come up in recent time is OsamaSon. His name hasn't just now started ringing in people's ears; he's been grinding his journey from 2023 to the current date, which has worked out perfectly.”
Currently in the music scene there's been a new sound that's been created which involves mumble rap and a lot of 808’ beats. It's been a long cycle throughout recent decades where new artists are brought into the scene such as in the Soundcloud era in the 2010’s with Playboi Carti, LIl Uzi, XxxTentacion, and many others that have held a special place in the heart of many music lovers. We're in a new era with many artists during that era either striving or failing, “falling off” from the internet.
One of the newest artists that has been heavily on the come up in recent time is OsamaSon. His name hasn't just now started ringing in people's ears; he's been grinding his journey from 2023 to the current date, which has worked out perfectly. He came out with a single named “CTS-V” that blew him up and got his name in the underground scene. OsamaSon is now striving to go on his 2nd tour for his most recent project, Jumpout, that has gone extremely viral on all social platforms bringing in new fans.
I'm a huge fan and have been following his success and going to every concert he has held, since his performance and energy brings an unmatched crowd to enjoy it with.
Most recently, I saw him live on April 21st. The lead up was pure excitement for me and my friend Kamila who I've partnered up with to head to multiple shows with. We were waiting for this exact day to come, since we enjoyed all of his discography, and I was ready to head to the venue, which was Webster hall and is known for hosting big names! I arrived 30 minutes before doors opened and was lucky enough to have met up with some students from Comp Sci High: AK and Ahmed, who were all the way at the front with other mutuals. I was able to skip in and get early access to merchandise and find a nice view in the front until openers came out.
While everyone was being let in, I felt bored and awkward waiting around, so I finessed my way into the balcony section where I later met up with my friend Kamila and stayed there until the show began. We were speaking around with randoms and then outta nowhere a known DJ in the underground scene, DJ Rennessy, came out and was letting fans interact with them.
This wasn’t our first time being around him, so we just spoke with him and took another video for the memories of it. While we were doing that out of nowhere the music dropped and the crowd started rumbling, this feeling was the excitement I enjoyed so much. We were getting hype on the balcony despite not being in a huge crowd. This continued for 20 minutes or so until a fan passed out in the crowd, known as the pit, and security with emergency assistance jumped right in. It was a bit concerning knowing this happened but everyone laughed it off. After this happened the venue went silent and here came one of the openers, OSxhnta, who had fans getting even more turnt making the balcony feel like it was going to fall off. Once his set finishedm the main opener 1oneam came out, and god was it beautiful! He came out with his most-known songs which the crowd sung and yelled out word for word. His set was definitely better and entertaining since I am new to his music. This made me a fan.
Once his set was over, there was a break period for about 10 minutes. Once it ended, I instantly grabbed Kamila and ran downstairs into the crowd even though it was impossible to get into the middle, so we squeezed, which was where we lost each other despite her grabbing onto me. I was instantly hit with the energy of the crowd and just started jumping with them and pushing people around to make space for the pit. I was able to move around to the front where I got a perfect view of OsamaSon which was so good to see. I was making friends left and right with people who were struggling to survive there, since the crowd would push you into all different directions with sweat everywhere. This continued for a hour or a little less, while on the side of the stage you were able to see other known artists such as Che, Xaviersobased and the producer Gyro.
Once the show ended, everyone chanted nother song, but sadly we didn't receive another song, and the people I was around with parted ways to head home, so I did as well. I was able to catch up with AK and Ahmed to debrief the concert, and after we took the train, I headed home to export all videos I took on my camcorder.
